Business Financial Management tool design
The goal of the project was to design an “all-in-one” finance tool for small and medium-sized companies and freelancers. I acted as the main designer in the project working closely with the Product and Tech teams. My work included full design flows of features such as invoicing, financial projection, informs, and multi-account management.
Process
As the main Product Designer of this Business Financial Management (BFM) tool design project, I covered both the UX and UI parts of the entire design process. However, all the design proposals were run by the other designer of the company in order to hear different opinions and see other points of view.
The design process I followed was pretty straightforward and it started from the user flow creation and finished with the handover of the designs and prototypes to the developers. Simultaneously with the design process, I was building the design system.
The features were designed to be responsive, but desktop-first because of the complexity of the features and the studied preference of the target audience. Some of the features designed were adapted from our Personal Financial Management (PFM) tool and some of them were designed from scratch following our roadmap for the product.
We wanted to have an original icon set for the tool that fits well with the rest of the visual styles and that can be extended as much as needed. So, we created a custom icon set that included UI icons and category icons. The category icons were used to visually represent the different types of transactions. Also, all the graphs visualized in the tool were designed by us.
